FOR LITTLE GEORGE JOHNSON; CHARITY BOXING EVENT

Rainton Meadows Arena on 21 October 2011

George Johnson is only 18 months old and has already endured 30 operations. His most recent operation took place at Great Ormond Street in March and lasted over 2 hours.
He has spent the majority of his short life in hospital attached to machines, and he stopped breathing over 30 times in his first 2 months. This brave little guy has to be fed via an artificial line which sits in his heart and means he is attached to a machine for 14 , because he can't eat or drink.

The doctors at Great Ormond Street seem to think that he has a rare condition called Intestinal Pseudo Obstruction, which basically means everything from his oesophagus down to his bowel doesn't work. Little George is due to go back to Great Ormond Street to undergo more tests and potentially more surgery, in the hopes of getting an exact diagnosis. Possible treatment may be available aboard in the USA, where George may eventually have to go. It's looking likely that George will never be able to eat or drink, relying on a machine to feed him. However there is equipment that would make life easier and more comfortable for George and his family.

This charity event at Rainton Meadows Arena on 21st October 2011, is to raise funds for equipment to help give little George a better quality of life. The fight night is now over subscibed, as more people want to help out little George. The participants; most of whom have never boxed, have just started their training at the Olympian Gym.

Mark Gorman is the organiser of this event, however this is not his first charity boxing event: "Our boxing shows have already raised more than £55,000 for charities and we'd love to hit the £100,000 mark".
