Burns is Hungry for Cook

Ahead of his third WBO title defence Ricky Burns claims he is prepared to beat Nicky Cook “by any means necessary” and looks forward to a week of binge eating and nights in. 31-2 Burns has said that dieting before a fight is the hardest part of being a boxer and Nicky Cook stands in his way of a big mac.
Not only has trainer Billy Nelson has not only try and get Ricky Burns fighting fit he has also tightened the diet belt on the Scot.

“Once the fights over I’ll just chill out and live on takeaways for the next few weeks. Right now my body is just craving fatty foods: it’s just about all I can think about” added Burns.

Ricky Burns is yet to win a fight as a world champion but maybe this weekend’s England v Scotland battle just might be the perfect opportunity for Burns to rectify that unwanted record. Burns seems unfazed however and like any fighter would be more than happy with a win.

“If you go out looking for a knockout it never happens, my attitude is that I just want to get in there and win by any means necessary”

It has been reported that Burns’ manager Alex Morrison has made an official protest against one of the judges chosen for the bout. Englishman Terry O’Connor is under scrutiny from Morrison who is said to be unhappy with O’Connor’s decision making in the past.

“we’ve been told that it is three English Judges and an English referee, but it is up to me to take it out of the referee’s hands” said Burns.
