Lee Purdy’s One Eye On Vassell

Ahead of his British Welterweight title defence against Craig Watson this coming Saturday night Lee Purdy hopes a win will secure a rematch with Denton Vassell. Colchester’s Purdy has said “I would love another go at Denton if I beat Craig, I am sure I can avenge that set back”

Vassell came out on top with a narrow point’s victory over Purdy in their Commonwealth title bout in April.

Purdy followed this hic-up with a 5^th round stoppage win over Craig Watson to pick up the British title and will be hoping to prove this was by no means a fluke when the pair meet again in Oldham.

Lee Purdy with only two professional defeats on is record signed a three fight deal with Hatton promotions with Denton amongst the same stable the rematch should not be too difficult to put together.

Also fighting in Oldham this Saturday night Ricky Hatton’s youngsters are out in force with Austin Hornsby v Jason Nesbitt, Dean Halsall takes on Ryan Clark and Matthew Clarkson laces up against James Tucker.
